[REMOTE] Real-Time Cinematic Developer (Unreal Engine / Virtual Production)

Company
StoneGate Cinematic Universe L.L.C.

Project
Becoming Hank Luciano: Return To StoneGate City

Production
Film Development / Real-Time Cinematic Pipeline

Division
Production & Creative Development — Real-Time Cinematics

Type
Exploratory / Future Collaboration

Location
Remote

Website
https://www.stonegateuniverse.com/

Role

This role supports the long-term development of Becoming Hank Luciano: Return To StoneGate City, a film project within the StoneGate Cinematic Universe (SGCU).

This is not an active production hire. At this stage, the focus is on identifying experienced Unreal Engine developers and real-time cinematic artists for future collaboration as the project progresses into deeper production phases.

The vision is to build a grounded, cinematic film experience using Unreal Engine and real-time virtual production workflows—prioritizing realism, atmosphere, and intentional storytelling.

This is not a traditional animation project. The goal is to achieve a level of visual quality where scenes feel comparable to live-action film, not game cutscenes or stylized renders.

Responsibilities may include:

• Building and assembling cinematic sequences in Unreal Engine (UE5 preferred)
• Developing and refining environments that feel grounded, structured, and lived-in
• Setting up lighting that reflects natural, realistic conditions with cinematic depth
• Creating and sequencing shots using Unreal’s Sequencer and camera tools
• Supporting visual development through test scenes, trailers, and proof-of-concept sequences
• Collaborating on the overall visual language and tone of the StoneGate universe
• Translating creative direction into real-time cinematic output without over-stylization

Asset & Pipeline Expectations

• Strong understanding of Unreal Engine real-time workflows
• Ability to work with assets created in tools like Blender (or similar) and integrate them into Unreal Engine
• Understanding of how models, textures, and environments are prepared for cinematic use
• Ability to maintain visual quality while optimizing for real-time rendering
• Familiarity with Sequencer, camera setup, and real-time rendering pipelines
• Awareness of how environment design, lighting, and composition work together in film production

Creative Direction & Quality Standard

The goal is to achieve a cinematic, live-action quality using Unreal Engine—where scenes feel indistinguishable from real-world footage.

This includes realistic lighting, natural environments, believable character presence, and grounded camera work.

The final output should feel like a film first, not a game or animated project.

Visuals should avoid anything that feels artificial, overly stylized, or “game-like.” Every scene should prioritize realism, subtlety, and cinematic authenticity.

Environments should feel lived-in, structured, and believable—reflecting real-world spaces rather than designed sets.

The overall tone should reflect control, tension, and realism—not visual overload or exaggerated effects.

Preferred Background

• Experience working on high-end cinematic, film, or AAA-quality real-time projects
• Background in studios, production environments, or teams focused on premium visual output
• Strong understanding of lighting, composition, and visual storytelling at a professional level
• Ability to deliver work that meets high production standards in both detail and realism

Studio Preference

This role is ideally suited for a mid- to large-scale development studio with experience in Unreal Engine and real-time cinematic production.

Preferred teams should have the capability to support environment development, lighting, scene assembly, and cinematic sequencing at a high production level.

While individual applicants may be considered, priority will be given to studios or teams with established workflows, production experience, and the ability to scale as the project moves forward.

What This Is Not

• Not a beginner-level role
• Not a “learn as you go” position
• Not an immediate production hire
• Not a stylized or exaggerated visual project

Compensation

This is a future-facing role tied to the long-term development of the project.

Compensation, structure, and scope will be defined as the project progresses into active production phases.

How to Apply

If you have experience in Unreal Engine, real-time cinematics, or virtual production workflows and are interested in future collaboration, please follow the instructions in the "Work With Me" section.
