I've written before about how I first got into entrepreneurship—working my first job in 2008, selling products through catalogs to coworkers, and eventually finding my way into e-commerce, websites, and digital business.I was learning as I went.I didn't have much capital, and I didn't have experienced entrepreneurs or investors around me showing me what moves to make. A lot of what I understand today came from years of trying things, making mistakes, researching, building, and figuring things out for myself. So I'm not going to tell that whole story again. There's another part of it I've been thinking about lately. If I knew then what I know now—and actually had the capital to move differently—I would've built in a completely different order.
I WOULD'VE BUILT THE FINANCIAL FOUNDATION FIRST
When I was younger, I looked at entrepreneurship as a way out.I didn't want to spend the rest of my life working a regular job. I wanted to build something for myself, make my own money, and eventually reach a point where I didn't have to work for somebody else anymore.I wanted financial freedom. At the time, I connected that freedom mostly with starting businesses.Come up with an idea.Figure out how to build it.Find customers.Make money from it.Grow it enough that one day I wouldn't need a regular job anymore. That was the picture in my head. What I didn't understand yet was that starting a business and becoming financially free aren't automatically the same thing.A business can create income, but it can also constantly need money, time, attention, and reinvestment. You can own a business and still have everything financially depending on you showing up and keeping that business moving. As I've gotten older, my definition of financial freedom has gotten bigger.I still believe in entrepreneurship. I still want to build businesses and create things of my own.But now I think much more about ownership, assets, multiple sources of income, equity, and building a financial foundation outside of whatever business I'm currently working on.If I had serious capital from the beginning, I don't think my first move would've been putting all of it into businesses I was creating from scratch.I would've wanted assets first.Real estate would've been one of my biggest priorities.Flips.Rental properties.Properties where there was an opportunity to create value, build equity, generate income, or eventually do all three.Franchise ownership would've been another area I explored seriously. The appeal would've been completely different from building one of my own businesses from scratch. When you start your own company, you're building everything. The name. The brand. The systems. The customer base. The reputation. The operating model. You're trying to prove that the entire thing works while you're already putting money into it.With the right franchise opportunity, I could've taken a different approach.Instead of creating another unknown business from zero, I could've invested in an established—and potentially globally recognized—brand with an existing business model, operating systems, training, customer awareness, and a track record I could actually evaluate before putting my money into it.That's always been one of the things that attracted me to franchise ownership. That doesn't mean buying a franchise automatically means buying a profitable business. It doesn't.Individual locations can struggle or fail. The market matters. The location matters. The numbers matter. The investment still has to make sense. But there's a major difference between saying, "I'm going to create another business from scratch and build the market for it," and saying, "I'm going to evaluate an established brand and determine whether owning one of its locations makes financial sense."And if the first location performed well, I would've wanted to look at expanding from there. One location. Then another.Potentially building a portfolio of locations over time instead of creating a completely new business every time I wanted to expand. That's the kind of ownership I would've wanted alongside real estate.Because what I was really chasing all those years ago wasn't simply entrepreneurship. It was freedom.I just understand a lot more today about what it may actually take to build it.
THEN I WOULD'VE BUILT THE BUSINESSES
I still would've created businesses from scratch. That part wouldn't have changed. The order would've.Instead of starting another business and then trying to figure out how to keep funding it from whatever money I personally had available, I would've wanted other things working underneath it.Income from investments.Equity.Assets.Established businesses.Different sources of income and capital that didn't all depend on the newest idea working immediately. Then I could've taken some of what those things produced and put it into something I wanted to create from the ground up.That's the strategy I wish I understood much earlier.Build the foundation.Let that foundation create more options. Then take some of those resources and use them to build the original ideas I believe in.
I USED TO THINK MOSTLY ABOUT WHAT I COULD START
That's probably one of the biggest differences between how I thought then and how I think now.For years, most of my thinking started with:What can I build? Now there's another question that matters just as much:What can I own? Those aren't necessarily the same thing. You can spend years creating businesses and still never build much outside of those businesses. That's something I think about a lot more now.I don't only want companies and projects that require me to continuously put money into them.I want assets too.I want things capable of producing income.I want equity.I want different pieces working together instead of every new idea beginning financially from the same starting line.I still want to be a builder.I just don't want building from scratch to be the only way I know how to create something valuable.
CAPITAL CHANGES WHAT'S POSSIBLE
Bootstrapping can teach you a lot.I've learned how to work with limited resources, find different ways to get something done, bring in people with skills I don't have, and keep moving even when everything isn't perfectly lined up.I value those lessons. But I've also learned not to romanticize doing everything the hard way.Capital matters.Having resources gives you options. It can give a good idea more room to develop. It can allow you to bring in the right expertise sooner. It can give you room to make decisions based on what's best for the business instead of always making decisions based on what you can afford at that exact moment. And having income-producing assets behind you can completely change the position you're building from. There's a difference between building because you have an idea and building with an actual financial foundation underneath that idea. That's the position I would've wanted to create much earlier if I'd understood it and had the ability to do it.
I DON'T WANT EVERYTHING TO START AT ZERO
I'm still building businesses.I'm still developing ideas.I'm still interested in creating things that didn't exist before. That hasn't changed. What has changed is what I want surrounding those things.I don't want every future idea to begin with me asking how much of my paycheck I can put toward it.I don't want every business I create to have to become the financial foundation for whatever comes next.I want to build the foundation too.Real estate.Investments.The right franchise opportunities if they make sense.Other assets and sources of income that can exist alongside the businesses and projects I create myself. Then, when there's another idea worth pursuing, I'm not necessarily starting from zero again.I'm building from something.
I CAN'T BUILD BACKWARD
It's easy to look back and create the perfect strategy with knowledge you didn't have and money you didn't have. That's not what I'm trying to do.I couldn't have made all of these moves back then simply because I understand them better today. My circumstances were different. My knowledge was different. My resources were definitely different. But looking backward can still teach you something about how you want to move forward. If I knew then what I know now, I would've built differently.I would've focused more on ownership.I would've built assets.I would've worked toward multiple sources of income.I would've used some of what that foundation produced to finance the businesses and ideas I wanted to create myself. But I can't build backward. And maybe that's the most important part of realizing what you would've done differently. It isn't about spending the rest of your life wishing you had done it sooner. It's about recognizing what you understand now and deciding what you're going to do with it.I still want to create.I still want to build things from scratch.I still want to take ideas that exist in my head and turn them into something real.I just want to build from a stronger position.Because the goal I had when I was younger really hasn't changed.I still want financial freedom. What has changed is my understanding of how I want to get there.I can't go back and change the order. But I can change the order from here.

IF I KNEW THEN WHAT I KNOW NOW, I WOULD'VE BUILT DIFFERENTLY

HOMEThe homepage introduces Lee Bangah and gives visitors an immediate look into the artist, the music, and what is happening around the brand. It also gives visitors clear paths into the rest of the platform instead of overwhelming them with everything at once. ABOUTThe About page gives visitors a deeper look at Lee Bangah's story, background, creative journey, and connection to Charlottesville. It gives people who may know the music an opportunity to understand more about the person and history behind it. MUSIC & MEDIAThe Music & Media section gives Lee Bangah a dedicated place for music videos, performances, interviews, documentaries, and other media.Instead of those pieces existing only across different third-party platforms, the website can bring them together and give visitors a central place to explore them. EVENTSUpcoming performances, appearances, interviews, and other events have a dedicated section where they can be promoted and updated. That creates a permanent destination people can check instead of relying entirely on individual social media posts. BLOGThe blog gives the platform room for stories, announcements, project updates, important moments, interviews, and other content that deserves more space than a social media caption. It also creates an ongoing record of what is happening throughout Lee Bangah's career. WORK WITH LEEOne of the most important parts of the project was building out the professional side of the platform. The Work With LEE section gives visitors a clear way to explore opportunities including live performances, music features, custom music, promotional services, collaborations, partnerships, appearances, and other professional opportunities.Instead of making potential clients, artists, businesses, or organizations figure out what Lee offers through direct messages, those opportunities now have a dedicated place on his website. CONTACTThe website also provides a direct path for professional inquiries.Whether someone is interested in a performance, collaboration, media opportunity, partnership, promotional opportunity, or another professional inquiry, there is a clear place to start.
BUILDING BEYOND SOCIAL MEDIA
Social media is still an important part of Lee Bangah's presence. The difference is that it is no longer the only place where his work can live.Social platforms change.Algorithms change.Posts get buried.Accounts and platforms can come and go.A dedicated website gives Lee Bangah a platform that can continue growing alongside his career while remaining under his own brand.Social media can bring people in.The website gives them somewhere to go.
BGI'S ROLE
BreakGround Innovations handled the digital development and organization behind the platform, including:• Website planning and development • Site structure and navigation • Content organization • Music and media presentation • Professional service organization • Search-friendly page titles and descriptions • Ongoing website updates and content support • Continued digital development as new material and opportunities are addedThe focus throughout the project has been making sure the website remains useful, current, and capable of growing with the artist.BGI's role wasn't simply to put pages online. It was to take the different pieces surrounding Lee Bangah's music, story, media, professional services, and ongoing activity and organize them into one connected digital platform.
AN ACTIVE PLATFORM
The Lee Bangah website wasn't built to be launched once and forgotten. It was designed as an active platform that can continue changing alongside the artist. As new music is released, events are announced, interviews happen, videos are published, and new opportunities develop, the website can continue growing with them.BreakGround Innovations continues supporting the platform through ongoing website management, content updates, organization, and digital development. That ongoing relationship is an important part of the project. The goal isn't simply to build something and walk away. It's to create a digital foundation that remains useful as the person or business behind it continues moving forward.
THE RESULT
Lee Bangah now has an independent digital home that brings together the different sides of his career under one platform.Instead of relying entirely on social media, visitors now have one destination where they can:• Learn more about Lee Bangah and his story • Explore music, videos, interviews, documentaries, and other media • Find upcoming events and appearances • Read news, stories, and project updates • Explore performances, collaborations, custom music, promotional services, and other professional opportunities • Contact Lee Bangah for serious inquiriesThe platform gives his existing audience somewhere deeper to explore while also creating a professional destination for people discovering him for the first time.It also gives Lee Bangah something that social media alone cannot provide — a digital platform centered entirely around his own brand. For BreakGround Innovations, the project represents the kind of work BGI is being built around: understanding what someone is trying to accomplish, organizing the different pieces, identifying what the platform needs to do, and developing a digital solution around the bigger picture.
VISIT THE LIVE PROJECT
The Lee Bangah website remains active and continues to evolve as new music, media, events, stories, and opportunities are added.Visit the official Lee Bangah website:
ABOUT BREAKGROUND INNOVATIONS
BreakGround Innovations works with businesses, entrepreneurs, brands, creators, and organizations on digital solutions built around what they're actually trying to accomplish. Our work can include websites, e-commerce, digital development, branding support, digital systems, workflow organization, automation, and other technology-driven solutions.Every project is different. The goal is to understand what needs to be built, identify the right approach and resources, and help turn the idea into something real.
HAVE A PROJECT IN MIND?
If you're building a business, brand, platform, or digital project and need help figuring out the next step, learn more about BreakGround Innovations and the solutions we provide.EXPLORE BREAKGROUND INNOVATIONS

CASE STUDY: LEE BANGAH — BUILDING AN INDEPENDENT DIGITAL HOME FOR AN ARTIST

Long before BreakGround Innovations, I was just trying to figure out what was possible. In 2008, I started my first job working part-time as a dishwasher in dining at the University of Virginia. Around that same time, I was researching different ways to make money from home and looking into business opportunities. One of my first real attempts at entrepreneurship came through catalog sales. These weren't little pamphlets. They were thick, full-size product catalogs—the kind that reminded me of those big Christmas catalogs from stores like Sears and Toys “R” Us that used to come in the mail years ago. The ones packed with page after page of toys, electronics, clothes, games and all kinds of other stuff. As a kid, you could sit there flipping through them, looking at everything you wanted for Christmas. The catalogs I carried had that same kind of feel. They were big, nice, professionally put together and packed with products people could actually see themselves buying.I carried the catalogs and my order forms around in a messenger bag, and some of the people I worked with became my first customers. At that point, I hadn't even been introduced to e-commerce yet. I wasn't thinking about online stores, digital payments, remote teams or any of the technology I work around today.I WAS STILL FIGURING THINGS OUT.I didn't have much money behind me or some detailed business plan. I had catalogs, order forms, a messenger bag and an interest in seeing whether I could build something of my own.So I worked with what I had.
THE VISION GOT BIGGER
Over the years, the tools changed and the vision became clearer.Eventually, I was introduced to e-commerce, websites and a completely different way of doing business online.A big part of what eventually led me into the digital services I'm involved with today actually started from the other side of the table:I WAS THE CUSTOMER.I started hiring freelancers online through what is now Upwork, back when the platform operated under its old name. I wasn't running a digital agency at the time. I was hiring people because I needed different things done for my own ideas and projects.Over time, I worked with freelancers across different areas and started building relationships with people who had skills I didn't necessarily have myself. That experience showed me something.I DIDN'T HAVE TO PERSONALLY KNOW HOW TO DO EVERYTHING IN ORDER TO BUILD SOMETHING.I could understand what I wanted to accomplish, find the right people with the right skills, bring those pieces together and manage the bigger direction.Eventually, an idea started forming.Instead of only hiring people for my own projects, what if I built a business around those relationships and that same model? That's when the idea of creating my own agency and offering different digital services started taking shape. The vision eventually became bigger than a traditional agency. I wanted to build something that wasn't limited by where I was physically located—a business capable of operating remotely, working with clients and professionals across different markets, and growing as the right people, systems and resources were put around it.That thinking is a big part of what eventually became BreakGround Innovations.
BUILDING BREAKGROUND INNOVATIONS
Today, BreakGround Innovations is a remote digital solutions company based in Charlottesville, Virginia.BGI works with businesses, entrepreneurs, brands and organizations across areas including websites, e-commerce, branding and creative support, software and digital systems, workflow automation and digital strategy. But I've learned that offering services is only one part of building a company. You also need the operation behind them. That means putting systems in place for how clients communicate with the business, how projects are coordinated, how payments are handled, and how the right professionals and resources can be brought into a project when they're needed. That's the stage of BGI I'm focused on now:STRENGTHENING THE BUSINESS BEHIND THE SERVICES.The technology has changed dramatically since I first started experimenting with business, but one of the biggest advantages of building today is that the people involved don't necessarily have to be in the same building—or even the same city.BGI can be based in Charlottesville while working with clients, professionals and resources in different places. That's the kind of company I want to continue building.
BUILDING FOR WHAT COMES NEXT
There's still a lot I want to build.BGI is continuing to strengthen its current digital services while also laying the groundwork for future directions, including a planned expansion into remote IT and Helpdesk Services.I'm not interested in putting everything on the website before the infrastructure exists to support it.I'd rather build the pieces first. The systems. The relationships. The resources. And then grow from there.BGI is still growing, and I'm still figuring some things out—just on a much different level than I was back in 2008.When I look back, that's probably one of the things that hasn't changed. You don't always need to know exactly where an idea will lead before you start.Sometimes you start with what you have, learn along the way and keep building from there.BACK THEN, THE OPERATION FIT INSIDE A MESSENGER BAG.TODAY, I'M BUILDING BREAKGROUND INNOVATIONS FOR SOMETHING MUCH BIGGER.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Adam Dudley is an entrepreneur, creator, and Founder & Managing Director of BreakGround Innovations based in Charlottesville, Virginia.Through Adam Dudley Works, he documents the businesses, creative projects, technologies, ideas, lessons, and long-term initiatives he's building and exploring along the way. This post is part of an ongoing archive—ideas, progress, and perspective captured as they happen.More entries ahead.
DISCLAIMER
BreakGround Innovations is an evolving business. FROM AN IDEA TO AN OPERATION: BUILDING BREAKGROUND INNOVATIONS

BreakGround Innovations has always been about more than simply putting a website online. The bigger idea behind BGI is helping businesses build and improve the digital side of how they operate.Sometimes that means a website.Sometimes it's an e-commerce store.Sometimes it's branding, automation, software, digital systems, or figuring out how different pieces of technology can work together. But lately I've been thinking more about what happens after those systems are in place.Because technology doesn't stop needing attention once it's built.People still need support.Computers have problems. Employees get locked out of accounts. Software stops working the way it's supposed to. New employees need access to systems. Passwords need to be reset. Microsoft 365 needs support. Devices need to be configured. Applications need troubleshooting. And when something goes wrong in the middle of a workday, somebody has to figure it out. That has me looking at another direction for BreakGround Innovations:IT support.More specifically, I'm currently working through what could become BGI Helpdesk Services—a remote IT support and managed helpdesk solution for businesses that need dependable technical support without necessarily building an entire IT department of their own.
WHY IT MAKES SENSE FOR BGI
At first glance, website development and IT support might seem like two completely different businesses.I don't really see it that way. They're different services, but they're connected by the same thing:Businesses depend on technology.A company might come to BGI because it needs a better website or e-commerce operation today. As that company grows, it might start hiring employees, adding software, using Microsoft 365, managing more user accounts, introducing new devices, or dealing with technical problems that weren't there when the business was smaller.Eventually somebody has to answer a simple question:Who do we contact when something stops working?Building technology is one side of the equation.Supporting the people who depend on it is another. That's where I see an opportunity for BGI to eventually do more.
NOT EVERY BUSINESS NEEDS AN INTERNAL IT DEPARTMENT
Larger organizations can have entire IT departments. They may have helpdesk technicians, system administrators, network engineers, cybersecurity teams, managers, and specialists responsible for different parts of the technology environment.A smaller business may not have that luxury.Hiring an entire internal IT team can become expensive quickly. But being too small for an internal IT department doesn't mean a business stops having IT problems. The problems still happen. The employee who can't access an account still needs help. The computer that isn't working properly still has to be addressed. The new hire still needs to get set up.The software issue still needs to be investigated. The support ticket still needs an answer. That's one of the gaps I'm interested in exploring with BGI Helpdesk Services.Instead of a business immediately having to build its own support operation from scratch, BGI could potentially provide access to remote technical support through a managed service structure.
WHAT BGI HELPDESK SERVICES COULD LOOK LIKE
The exact service structure is still being worked out, and I want to be clear about that. This isn't me announcing a finished service and pretending every detail has already been decided.I'm building the foundation. The current vision is a remote helpdesk service that could support businesses with common day-to-day technology issues and provide employees with an organized way to get technical assistance.Depending on the final structure and the resources available through BGI's technical partners, support could potentially include:• Remote desktop troubleshooting • User and account support • Password and access assistance • Microsoft 365 support • Software and application troubleshooting • Device support • New-user setup and onboarding assistance • Ticket-based technical support • General technical guidance for employees • Issue escalation when more advanced expertise is required • Ongoing remote helpdesk supportOver time, there could also be opportunities to connect helpdesk support with other IT services and technologies. But I'm not interested in putting twenty services on a webpage just because they sound good.I want to know how they're going to be delivered first.
I DON'T HAVE TO DO EVERYTHING MYSELF
This is probably one of the biggest changes in how I think about building businesses today compared with years ago. There was a time when I thought starting a business meant I needed to personally know how to do almost everything the business offered.I don't look at it that way anymore. That doesn't mean you can sell something you know absolutely nothing about and just hope somebody else figures it out.You still need to understand what you're offering. You need to understand what the client expects. You need systems. You need quality control. You need communication. And most importantly, you need people you can trust to actually deliver. But I don't need to personally be the web developer, software engineer, helpdesk technician, cybersecurity specialist, designer, project manager, salesperson, receptionist, and every other position required to grow BreakGround Innovations. That's not realistic. My role is increasingly becoming about putting the right pieces together.
BUILDING THE RIGHT PARTNER NETWORK
That's one of the things I'm actively working on right now.I'm talking with developers, technical teams, technology companies, service providers, and other potential partners to figure out who could become part of BGI's delivery network. Some relationships may make sense.Others won't.And that's fine. One team may be strong in website and e-commerce development.Another may specialize in custom software.Another may be better suited for mobile applications or AI.Another company may have the infrastructure and technical staff needed to support a managed helpdesk operation.I don't necessarily need one company to do everything.I'd rather build relationships with people who are good at what they do and know who I can go to when a particular type of project or client need comes through the door. That also means asking more questions before calling somebody a partner. How do they communicate? How do they price their work? How do they handle confidentiality?Who owns the work when a project is finished? Will they respect BGI's relationship with the client? Can they work behind the scenes when necessary? What happens when something goes wrong? What happens after launch? Can I trust them with a client I've worked to bring into BGI?Those questions matter just as much as technical ability. The cheapest provider isn't automatically the best partner.I'm trying to build a network I can actually depend on.
BGI REMAINS PART OF THE RELATIONSHIP
Working with outside resources doesn't mean I want BreakGround Innovations to simply hand a customer off to another company and disappear. That's not the model I'm building. The idea is for BGI to remain responsible for the overall relationship and experience.A client comes to BreakGround Innovations with a need.We understand what they're trying to accomplish. We determine what kind of solution makes sense. We coordinate the appropriate resources. And we remain involved in making sure the solution is delivered properly. The specialists behind a project may change depending on what needs to be done. The relationship with BGI doesn't.That's an important distinction for me.
BUILD THE INFRASTRUCTURE BEFORE THE CLIENT NEEDS IT
It's easy to say you offer something. It's harder to actually be ready when somebody says yes. That's why I've been spending time working on things people may never see from the outside.Development resources.Potential technology partners.Customer service.Call procedures.Business email.Client communication.Support processes.Project delivery. The systems behind the company.I'm currently putting professional live customer service in place for BGI so there can be a real person answering the phone and handling calls professionally.I'm strengthening the development side and having conversations with potential technical partners that could help BGI handle different types of projects. Now I'm exploring the infrastructure needed to add remote IT support and managed helpdesk services to that operation.Things may be slow starting out while I work on bringing clients in.I'm okay with that.I'd rather have more of the machine built before I start trying to put a lot of business through it.
MY OWN INTEREST IN IT
There's another reason this direction makes sense to me.I've been spending more time learning information technology myself.IT support, computer systems, troubleshooting, cybersecurity, and the technology businesses depend on have become areas I want to understand better.I'm continuing to strengthen my technical knowledge while also thinking about how that knowledge could eventually connect with what I'm building through BGI.I'm not going to present myself as someone who has spent twenty years working professionally in IT.I haven't.I'm still learning. But I don't see being in the learning stage as a reason to stay away from the industry.I see it as a reason to keep learning while putting experienced people and resources around the business where they're needed. The more I learn about IT, the more I realize how much technology is operating behind businesses every day without most people thinking about it.Until something stops working. Then suddenly it becomes everybody's problem. That's part of what makes the helpdesk side of BGI interesting to me.
FROM ONE-TIME PROJECTS TO ONGOING SUPPORT
There's also a business reason this direction makes sense.A website project eventually ends.An e-commerce store eventually launches.A software project eventually reaches a point where the initial development work is complete.Support is different.Technology support can create an ongoing relationship. If a business trusts BGI to help support its employees and technology environment, we're no longer only talking about completing one project. We're talking about becoming part of how that business operates. That's a different level of responsibility. And it's something I wouldn't want BGI to take on until the infrastructure behind it is ready.Long term, though, I think that kind of relationship could become important.I don't want BreakGround Innovations to only be the company someone contacts when they need a new website.I want BGI to become a company businesses can continue turning to as their digital and technology needs change.
BUILD AND SUPPORT
If this comes together the way I envision it, BGI could eventually operate across two connected sides of business technology. One side helps businesses build.Websites.E-commerce.Software.Automation.Digital systems.Branding and digital experiences. The other side helps businesses support the technology and people behind those operations.IT support.Helpdesk services.User assistance.Technology troubleshooting.Ongoing technical support. Those two sides don't have to compete with each other. They can strengthen each other.A company that trusts BGI to build something may eventually trust us to support other parts of its technology.A company that first comes to BGI for IT support may eventually need a new website, automation, software, e-commerce solution, or another digital system. That's when BGI starts becoming more than a company somebody contacts for a single project. It starts becoming a longer-term technology resource.
THERE'S STILL A LOT TO FIGURE OUT
I don't know exactly what the final version of BGI Helpdesk Services will look like yet.I'm still evaluating potential partners.I'm still looking at different service structures.I'm still thinking through pricing.I'm still determining what support should be included, what should be optional, how tickets should be handled, how escalation should work, and what types of businesses the service should initially target. The company I'm talking to today might not be the company I ultimately work with. There could eventually be more than one partner involved. The service itself may change as I learn more. That's part of the process. And that's why I'm documenting it now.Adam Dudley Works isn't supposed to only show the finished version of everything.Part of the point is documenting what happens between the idea and whatever that idea eventually becomes.
WHERE THINGS STAND TODAY
Right now, BGI Helpdesk Services is still in the planning stage. No big launch announcement. No pretending everything is finished.I'm putting pieces in place.I'm having conversations.I'm comparing potential partners.I'm thinking about how the service would actually work for a client. And I'm looking at how it fits into the larger direction of BreakGround Innovations.Businesses aren't becoming less dependent on technology. They're becoming more dependent on it.And the more technology becomes part of everyday business, the more important it becomes to have somebody there when that technology doesn't work the way it's supposed to.BGI already has a place on the building side of that equation. Now I'm exploring what it would take for us to be there on the support side too. That's where things stand today. And if it works, you'll be able to come back to this article later and see where that next part of BGI started.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR

<img id="4tris3em8nmtvvpjpj" BEYOND WEBSITES: EXPANDING BGI INTO IT SUPPORT

A lot of people have ideas for brands.Clothing. Eyewear. Accessories. Footwear. Streetwear. Luxury products. You name it.The problem usually isn’t coming up with the idea. It’s figuring out what to do with it next. You might have a name already. You might have a logo. Maybe you have a few product ideas saved on your phone. You might even have a supplier or manufacturer you’ve been looking at.Or you might not have any of that yet. That doesn’t mean you can’t start. At BreakGround Innovations, one of the things we focus on is helping entrepreneurs and businesses take ideas like these and start putting the pieces together. And when it comes to fashion and product-based brands, a big part of that is e-commerce.
YOUR WEBSITE IS YOUR STORE.
If you’re building an online fashion brand, think about it like this:Your customer probably isn’t walking into a physical store. They’re pulling out their phone. They’re looking at your homepage. They’re clicking through your products. They’re looking at your prices. They’re deciding whether your business looks legitimate. And they’re deciding whether they trust you enough to spend their money. That whole experience matters. You can have a great product and still lose somebody because the website doesn’t look right, feels unfinished, is hard to use, or just doesn’t match the brand. That’s why I don’t look at an e-commerce website as just somewhere to put products. It’s the actual storefront.
SHOPIFY GIVES US THE PLATFORM. WE BUILD YOUR STORE AROUND IT.
Shopify is one of the platforms we can use to build the actual e-commerce side of your business. But just opening a Shopify account and choosing a theme isn’t the same thing as building a brand experience. That’s where BGI comes in.Depending on the project, we can help with:• Shopify store design and development • Homepage design • Product pages • Collection pages • Store navigation • Product catalog setup • Mobile optimization • Payment setup • Shipping configuration • Apps and integrations • Customer experience • Analytics • Domain setup • Launch preparationThe goal is to build something that actually feels like YOUR business. Not another website that looks like somebody changed the logo and colors on a template.
DON’T KNOW WHAT YOU WANT THE STORE TO LOOK LIKE YET?
That’s cool too. This is actually one of the parts I like about what we can do through BGI.We can create concepts before everything is built. If you have an idea in your head but you’re having trouble seeing how it could come together, we can start putting visuals around it.That could include concepts for:• Your e-commerce store • Homepage layouts • Product presentation • Branding • Packaging • Products • Collections • Promotional campaigns • Other parts of the customer experienceYou get a chance to actually SEE different directions. Then we can take what works and continue building from there.
WHAT IF YOU DON’T EVEN HAVE THE PRODUCTS YET?
You can still reach out. This is where a lot of people get stuck. They know they want to start a clothing brand or eyewear company, for example, but they have no idea where to find somebody to actually make the product.BGI can help with that research too.Depending on the project, we can research potential:• Manufacturers • Private-label manufacturers • Wholesale suppliers • Distributors • Packaging suppliers • Sampling resources • Custom product manufacturers • Domestic suppliers • International suppliersWe can also look into things like minimum order quantities, customization options, samples, production capabilities and other information that can help you narrow down your options. We’re not claiming to manufacture your products ourselves. We help with the research so you’re not sitting there trying to figure out where to even start.
ALREADY HAVE ALL OF THAT? EVEN BETTER.
Maybe you already have the products.Maybe the manufacturer is ready. The logo is done. The business is set up.You just need the store.Come to us for that. You don’t have to use BGI for every part of the process. If all you need is somebody to design and build your Shopify store, that can be the project.
ALREADY HAVE A SHOPIFY STORE?
We can work with that too.Maybe you built it yourself just to get started.Nothing wrong with that. But now the business is growing and you want something better.Maybe the design doesn’t represent the brand anymore.Maybe it doesn’t look right on mobile.Maybe the products aren’t being presented the way you want.Maybe the store works, but it just doesn’t have that professional feel you’re looking for.We can take a look at what you already have and figure out what makes sense.Sometimes you need a new store.Sometimes you just need to make the one you already have better.
AND IT DOESN’T HAVE TO STOP AT THE WEBSITE.
As the business grows, you may eventually need more than the storefront.Automation.Customer communication.Analytics.Integrations.Different software.Better workflows.Other digital systems behind the business. That’s where BGI being more than just a website company comes into play.We can continue looking at what the business needs as it grows instead of treating the website like the end of the project.
YOU DON’T HAVE TO HAVE EVERYTHING FIGURED OUT BEFORE YOU TALK TO US.
I want to make that clear.Don’t think you need to have the entire business sitting there ready to go before reaching out.You might have everything except the store.Cool.You might have the products but no idea what the website should look like.We can work with that. You might have nothing but the idea.We can start there too.Tell us what you’re trying to build, what you already have and what you’re having trouble figuring out. That’s what the discovery conversation is for.
GOT THE IDEA? LET’S SEE WHAT WE CAN BUILD AROUND IT.
Whether you’re starting a new fashion brand, preparing to launch products, looking for potential suppliers or manufacturers, or ready to build a professional Shopify store, let’s talk about it.Bring us what you have. We’ll figure out where BGI can help from there.EXPLORE BREAKGROUND INNOVATIONS

I was worried about something completely different: how I looked in them. They were big, nerdy, and had the strap around the back so I could take them off and let them hang around my neck.I wasn't exactly the popular kid either. The girls definitely weren't checking for me like that, so in my mind, those glasses weren't helping the situation. My mother actually worked at the same elementary school as a kindergarten teacher assistant, which I thought was pretty cool. Her choice in eyewear for me?We had creative differences.I hated those glasses enough that sometimes I'd purposely lose them.Years later, reality won.My eyesight is bad, and glasses weren't going anywhere. So I made myself a deal:If I'm going to wear glasses, they have to look so cool that I don't want to take them off.I started searching online for designer-looking frames. Better shapes. Better colors. Different styles. Frames that actually had some presence. That's when glasses stopped feeling like something I had to wear and started becoming part of my style. Now I'm planning a luxury eyewear business.Funny how that worked out.
THE NAME BEHIND IT
Hank Luciano wasn't created for eyewear.Hank goes all the way back to when I was young.A guy from my old neighborhood gave me the nickname. That's a different story, but somehow the name stuck.Years passed. Life changed.Hank stayed.Luciano came much later.Over time, Hank Luciano became connected to my own personal development—the confidence, discipline, resilience, ambition, style and standard I wanted to build for myself. It became part of the person I was becoming.Eventually, I brought the name into my storytelling.Hank Luciano developed into a fictional character within the StoneGate Cinematic Universe, giving the name another meaning entirely. That evolution became part of Becoming Hank Luciano—a concept that carries meaning both personally and within the fictional world. In real life, Becoming Hank Luciano represents my own growth and the person I'm continuing to become. In fiction, it represents the character's own journey and evolution within StoneGate City. The fictional Hank has his own life, his own world and his own story.Same name. Different journeys. In real life, it's personal. In fiction, it's a character. And now the name is entering another space:Eyewear.
THE STORE
The vision is bigger than launching a collection of frames.Hank Luciano Eyewear is being planned as a luxury eyewear retail destination.A dedicated Shopify store is planned where customers will be able to shop luxury sunglasses and eyewear from high-end and popular brands supplied through our authorized distributor. That means the store won't only carry products with the Hank Luciano name. The goal is to build a real retail experience with established eyewear brands, different styles, different price points and a catalog people can actually explore. And within that same store will live the Hank Luciano Signature Collection—our own eyewear line under the Hank Luciano name.Customers will be able to come looking for brands they already know while also having the opportunity to discover something new. That's how I want to introduce Hank Luciano into the eyewear market. Not by pretending we're already one of the established names.By building toward becoming one.
PRESCRIPTION + SUN
Prescription eyewear isn't an afterthought. It's actually one of the reasons I'm interested in this business in the first place.I went from being a kid who didn't want to wear glasses to an adult who started searching specifically for frames that looked good enough to become part of my style. That experience stays with the brand.I want somebody who needs prescription glasses to have the same feeling I eventually found:I don't just need these. I actually want to wear these.Sunglasses will be another major part of the store, giving customers even more options across luxury brands and eventually the Hank Luciano Signature Collection.Whether it's something you need every day or something you put on strictly because it completes the look, eyewear should feel like part of your style.
TIMELESS BY DESIGN.
That's where Timeless by Design comes in.It doesn't mean every Hank Luciano frame has to look traditional.I want room to experiment.Different designs. Different collections. Different directions as the brand grows. To me, timeless is about creating something worth keeping.Something you can pull out years later, put it back on, and it still looks right. That's what I want the name Hank Luciano to eventually represent in eyewear.
WHAT COMES NEXT
For now, Hank Luciano Eyewear is in the planning stages. The vision is taking shape, and there's still plenty to figure out before the doors open. More will be shared when the time is right. This is just the beginning.HANK LUCIANO TIMELESS BY DESIGN.Updates will be shared through Adam Dudley Works as the brand takes shape.Disclaimer: Hank Luciano Eyewear is currently in the planning stage. Products, brands, collections, features, availability, and launch plans discussed in this article are conceptual and subject to change.
